Awkwafina

American actor and musician Awkwafina debuted with sly songs that dealt with racial identity and sexuality with an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her initial musical exposure. She played the trumpet. Also, she received instruction in jazz and classical before when she began to explore hip-hop as a teenager. In college she studied Women's Studies and Journalism. In addition, she spent some time learning Mandarin during her time in Beijing. It wasn't until after graduating that she shifted her focus to music. In 2012, her song My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet eventually landing on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. This album also featured songs that were viral such as body-positive Queef or winking hometown tour in NYC Bitche$. The track also appeared in Awkwafina's NYC travel guide published in 2015. As a musician and an author among her accomplishments, she began looking for acting in a third project. Her film credits include films including Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In the year 2018, she was offered a number of breakthrough roles, such as Dude Ocean's Eight or Crazy Rich Asians. She released the EP,"At Fina We Trust in June of the same year.
